- About This Course​
This course will provide you with the knowledge to interpret and apply the requirements of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code to consignments of Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) being sent by sea transport.
The contents of the IMDG Code that are covered include:
- Legislation, to give you an understanding of the legal aspects and responsibilities of shippers, agents and carriers General provisions of the IMDG
- Code Classification of dangerous substances and articles, and identifying the proper shipping name
- Packing dangerous goods
- Marking and labelling and/or placarding consignments of dangerous goods
- Preparation and completion of transport documents
- Fumigated cargo transport units
- Construction and testing of packagings and IBCs
- Segregation
- Dangerous goods in port areas
Successful completion will enable you to prepare consignments of dangerous goods for carriage by sea for the duration of the current edition of the IMDG Code. To maintain the currency of your training, you will be required to complete refresher training when the next edition becomes available.

Course format
This course is intended to be self-paced, so that you can complete it at times that are convenient for you. It should take about ten hours to complete (varies by student).
Your performance will be based on an assessment at the end of the training course. This assessment will properly and fairly measure your competency against industry-defined benchmarks. Results, in the form of ‘competent’ or ‘not yet competent’ are provided under a competency-based training and assessment (CBTA) system.
Who is this course for?
For shippers and freight forwarders responsible for preparing consignments of dangerous goods being shipped by sea transport.
This course is designed for personnel who have either no previous compliance training, or who have let their qualification lapse.
Requirements
To complete this course access to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code is required while you are undertaking the learning and assessments parts of the course.

After successfully completing the assessment, you'll be able to download and print your certificate.

How do my staff access their courses?
